Biographie
Phil Vermont is a professional guitarist/singer/songwriter with more than twenty years of experience.
He has played in many bands in a wide variety of music styles (rock, pop, blues, country, metal, jazz fusion, party music).
Phil’s guitar playing is inspired by Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Slash, Joe Bonamassa, Joe Satriani, and Mark Knopfler.
Phil began his career with a latino rock band called La Familia, which travelled the roads of Europe for more than 12 years. He was their guitarist, backing vocals and co-composer.
The band opened for many well known french artists (FFF, Bernard Lavilliers, Francis Cabrel, Amadou and Maryam, La rue Kétanou, etc...)
Then, while continuing as a sideman guitarist, he composed and produced the first two albums by Superscream (progressive hard rock) which received many good reviews in France and internationally.
He worked with Fred Duquesne (well known producer, who produced bands like Mass Hysteria, Bukowski, Brigitte) on the mix of the band's live dvd.
He began his career as a frontman with a cover band playing the music of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, and was recruited in 2016 as a singer/guitarist in the country rock band Texas Line.
With this band, he played a large number of gigs in France.
He still plays with Texas Line today and also composed and produced the album "Heart & Roots" for the band (spring 2024).
In 2018, Phil decided to go solo, because he wanted to reconnect with his blues/classic rock roots.
After a promising start, this new project was quickly halted by the Covid pandemic, but Phil took advantage of this downtime to write compositions and build a new band line up.
The first concert of the new band (simply called "Phil Vermont”) took place in 2022 at the Soubock in Cauville, opening for American bluesman Neal Black.
After the show, Neal suggested he work with the band as producer on a future album.
Phil Vermont started to play gigs more frequently and get more press reviews with local media : interviews on France Bleue Normandie radio, a broadcast of their concert
at "Les Rockeurs ont du cœur" on France 3 TV, where Phil opened for french rock legend Little Bob.
The band started recording at Phil's studio in October 2022, and quickly signed a distribution deal with the famous French blues record company Dixiefrog, for their first album "Time Has Come".
The album was released on November 8, 2024.
As concert offers and festival programming began to increase, Phil got deals with Music Box (publisher), Savarez (sponsor) and the band joined the roster of artists at the booking agency 106 Dbs Productions.
The band played at the Blues de Traverse Festival and opened for the blues legend Bernard Allison on October 6 2024.
The album climbed to 5th place in the ranking of the monthly blues radio collective charts in France, was broadcast internationally, and received a lot of excellent press reviews all around the world.
The band will be on tour for next summer and will start to work on a new album on 2025.
