A new album in 2009: “THE WHITE INDIAN - A Tribute to Heitor Villa-Lobos”

2009 Villa-Lobos-Duo will release their new album “THE WHITE INDIAN - A Tribute to Heitor Villa-Lobos”.

“The White Indian” is conceived by Villa- Lobos-Duo as a homage to Heitor Villa-Lobos on the 50th anniversary of his death with special appearance by Ahmed El-Salamouny.

With interpretations and adaptation of works by Heitor Villa-Lobos and his contemporaries and friends like Guinga, Darius Milhaud or Claude Debussy, Villa-Lobos-Duo once again prove to be one of the best duos of their kind.

And like Villa-Lobos in his days tried to fill the gap between European classical music and the Brazilian music of the street, Villa-Lobos-Duo again dares a modern approach to classical music.

Presentation

The Duo

Duo Villa Lobos: Boyan Karanjuloff (Guitar) et Sven Holger Philippsen (Violoncello)

It is the rare cast of violoncello (Sven Holger Philippsen) and guitar (Boyan Karanjuloff) that makes Villa-Lobos-Duo so innovative and exciting, but also the interpretations of modern classical music that provide attraction. With exquisite chamber music and an extraordinary repertoire from North- to South-American, from South- to East-European music the duo surprises and enthuses international concert scene.

Original composition, own adaptation, pleasure in improvisation and a very communicative presentation of their music turn a concert of Villa- Lobos-Duo into a lasting effect.

Empathetic playing inspires not only listeners but also composers for new creation. Among debut performances and first recordings it is most of all
the mixture between classical, jazz and popular elements that creates such versatile and vivid programs.

Mr. Karanjuloff plays "New Cristal Normal Tension" as E and A string, "Alliance High tension" on D, and "Corum High Tension" for the rest, (sometimes"540 CRJ").
