BIOGRAPHY
Jorge Castañeda , was born in 1979. He began studying classical guitar under professor Carlos Aguilera Bueno, and subsequently continued it at The Francisco Laso High School of Fine Arts ( Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes Francisco Laso ) in Tacna, Peru.
After receiving a scholarship of the Polish Government, between 1998 and 2003 he studied in Poland at The Grażyna & Kiejstut Bacewicz University of Music in Łódź , and subsequently continued at The Frederic Chopin University of Music in Warsaw , in the class of professor Marcin Zalewski, from where he graduated in 2003 with a Master Degree (Guitar).
After winning in 2005 a scholarship from The German Academic Exchange Service ( Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst - DAAD) he conducted his postgraduate musical studies as a guitar soloist at The State University of Music and Performing Arts (Staatliche Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst) in Stuttgart in the class of Prof. Johannes Monno, from where he graduated with distinction in 2008. Since 2006 he has also held a scholarship from the Jehudi Menuhin Live Musik Now Foundation in Stuttgart.
Jorge attended guitar master classes with Sergio & Odair Assad, Anatolij Shpakov, Abel Carlevaro, Thomas Müller-Pering, David Tannembaum, David Russell, Olaf van Gonissen , Ivo Kaltchev, Carlo Marchione, Jakub Niedoborek and Pavel Steidl.
He performed in concerts in Chile, Germany, Peru, Poland, Belarus as well as in the Netherlands, Ukraine and Lebanon. As a guitar soloist he played with the Sudecka Philharmonic and the Świętokrzyska Philharmonic in Poland, and with the Peruvian National Symphonic Orchestra .
Jorge has been a winner of a number of national and international classical guitar and folklore competitions, and was a nominee for the prestigious “Orgullo Peruano 2008” Prize. He has also made several music recordings for radio and television.
