biography

The Heinrich Albert Duo was founded in 2002. The enthusiasm of its members for chamber music and especially for the works of Heinrich Albert (1870-1950) was a decisive factor for their occupation with the literature for two guitars.

In this formation the two musicians are fascinated by the opportunities for exploration of the tonal and dynamic resources of the guitar. The illustration of musical structures in this process is an important aspect of the musical work of the Heinrich Albert Duo.

It quickly became clear that the Heinrich Albert Duo did not intend to proceed along the well-trodden paths but to set accents in program design. Among the large number of original works for two guitars, pieces possessing a high musical quality an calling on all the powers of the tonal possibilities of this instrumentation repeatedly come into view.

For all sorts of different reasons, many of these works have not met with the attention that they deserve. The Heinrich Albert Duo has set itself the task of playing precisely the unknown works without, however, losing sight of the already established repertoire. The public and press have honored the Heinrich Albert Duo´s work. For example the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung wrote, "Rarely does one experience such good musical fortune as here"
