Christian Gruber and Peter Maklar have a diversified repertory
which goes from traditional Spanish to the modern compositions:
a range of periods and styles.
They lead a nice career for them everywhere in Europe and America
They have studied together at the conservatories of Augsburg and
Heidelberg with Helmut Hehl and Walter Schumacher-Loffler. The two
guitarists also participated in the master classes of Sergio and
Odair Assad, Alvaro Pierri, Leo Brouwer, Angelo Gilardino and Tilman
Hoppstock.
In 1991, the duo won the First Prize and the Audience Award at
the largest international competition for existing guitar duets,
one of Montelimar, France.
They recorded four CDs that have all received glowing reviews.
Their performance in the School of Music in Manhattan, in December
2000, they earned the following comments: "[the duo Gruber / Maklar]
deserves to be recognized as one of the best guitar duos in the
