2 - The HALF ROUND polished winding is particularly suitable for the fretless electric bass:

In 1959, Savarez initiated the half-round polishing process.

This polishing gives the string a pleasant touch, it eliminates the left hand squeak or the pick noise. The strings offer the same characteristics than the round wound strings (please see above)
